Rafael is the head of the capital markets practice. He has solid expertise in local and international public offerings (IPOs and Follow-Ons) and fixed income (debentures, commercial notes, bonds, securitizations via real estate and agribusiness receivables certificates, financial bills, among others), advising both investment banks and issuing companies. With more than 17 years of extensive capital markets practice, Rafael has a track record covering some 40 equity offerings and more than 150 local and international fixed income transactions. He also has extensive and solid experience in the process of obtaining public company registration with the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM), either in preparation for IPOs or for enhancing governance practices, as well as having been responsible for conducting several private capital increases by listed companies.​

Rafael was an international associate in the New York office of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, working in the Corporate/Latin America practice group, advising Latin American companies on M&A transactions, IPOs and bond issues. He was also in-house counsel for Citibank, on secondment from CGM Advogados, responsible for several IPOs.
