Newsletter Life Sciences
The fifth edition of our newsletter brings regulatory updates on public health, health safety, and product regulation. One of the highlights is the strengthening of avian influenza monitoring measures at ports, airports, and borders, with the aim of preventing the virus from entering Brazil and protecting the health of the population and the poultry sector. Anvisa has also begun a new cycle of monitoring pesticide residues in food, a measure to ensure food safety. Another topic was the 7th Public Meeting of the Collegiate Board, which discussed issues such as drug registration, food labeling, and medical device inspection. In addition, Anvisa launched new criteria for the amendment of cosmetic petitions. It also released the second edition of the document “Questions and Answers” on RDC 894/2024, which deals with Good Cosmetovigilance Practices, aiming to assist the sector. In addition, a preliminary manual on the Unique Device Identification (UDI) database was published, accompanied by a public consultation on the topic, focusing on the traceability and safety of medical products marketed in the country. Finally, the Chamber for Regulation of the Medicines Market (CMED) opened a public consultation to review the criteria for pricing medicines, seeking to modernize CMED Resolution 2/2004. The proposal includes significant changes, such as criteria for innovative drugs, formalization of processes, and inclusion of technical definitions.
